Child protection is a cornerstone of TOFI’s broader safeguarding mission. Our work focuses on identifying and supporting individual children who are at risk of, or already experiencing, significant harm. Through well-defined child protection procedures, we ensure timely and appropriate responses to concerns related to a child’s safety and well-being.
TOFI is committed to creating safe environments for children by addressing both immediate threats and the systemic causes of harm. We work closely with communities to challenge harmful norms and implement long-term, sustainable solutions.
In Kenya, we are partnering with local communities to transform societal attitudes toward child marriage. These efforts have led to a growing number of young girls gaining access to education and escaping the cycle of early marriage.
In Somalia, our initiatives involve collaboration with community members, faith leaders, and survivors of violence. Together, we are reducing stigma, promoting behavioral change, and driving a collective effort to prevent violence against children.
In Sudan and Ethiopia, our child protection programs are reaching children who have been made vulnerable by conflict. These initiatives provide critical support to those exposed to heightened risks due to instability and displacement.
Our approach extends beyond addressing immediate threats. We work with communities to uncover and address the root causes of violence—such as abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and other forms of harm. This community-led systems approach is a vital part of TOFI’s global End Violence campaign, which is mobilizing a worldwide movement to protect children and ensure their fundamental right to safety. Through these integrated efforts, TOFI is not only responding to child protection concerns but also driving meaningful, lasting change to create a world where every child can thrive free from violence and harm.
